Black and white photography has always had a transformative quality to me, one that is very impactful in a frozen moment. The simplicity of light and dark tones focuses the attention, or allows for imagination. Early this spring, I took Alyssa and Ian to the National Zoo. It was a beautiful and warm day, but many of the animals were still inside from the winter so there wasn't much to see. However, I was lucky enough to have My Own Animals.

Mini sessions are back! 3 dates to choose from, June 24, July 2, and July 9. I chose Old Town Alexandria because it is a fantastic summertime backdrop. This is a great chance to make some summery images for couples, families, kids...at a fantastic value. Message me right away to schedule your spot!

I've always felt that photos can tell a story in a very special way. Each moment is frozen, allowing the viewer to experience something unique...the ability to go deeper into that fraction of a second, to feel it more, to analyze it more, to maybe understand it more. When a group of images come together, I think it is very powerful. I have started collecting images of everyday outings and putting them together as stories. This speaks to me more than the average portrait session. My goal is to capture more than what someone looks like, but a piece of them through those frozen moments. Please enjoy my first story of this year, taken on A Warm Winter Day.
